Style Stitches
Wednesday, March 2, 2011 Busy, busy! Wow! I can't believe that it is already the middle of the week! Things sure have been busy around here! Teaching all day, running home, then working on my blog class, and squeezing in sewing time! But it's made for a lot of fun!
I've been trying to finish my fleur de printemps quilt, however, I think that I'm going to have to rent a long-arm machine to finish it! However, there aren't many places that do this around here! :( I'm going to look into a few more places but it's looking dismal, I may just have to continue to squeeze the whole quilt through the small opening. :( Anyway, I'm also working on making the Reversible Everyday Shopper Bag from the book: Amy Butler's Style Stitches
I've joined a blog, JemJam, who are sewing their way through the whole book! I stumbled across the blog on accident right after I had purchased the book at Barnes and Noble! What luck! The group is sewing a bag a month. The February bag is the one I'm working on, but I think I'll be able to catch up! What's great about the blog is that she gives tutorials with lots of pictures along the way. Much better than the book! There are only a few pictures there. There is also a flickr group to post your progress or see what everyone else has made. Click here to check it out!
The fabric on the left is what I'm using to make the bag! I've deemed it my sewing bag for classes! :)

My mother in law has quilted many years. I think she takes her quilts to a shop or something like that to use their machine for finishing the quilt. You may consider getting connected to some local quilters.
I have this book too but I haven't made a bag yet. Your fabric selection is going to make a great craft bag! : )
Great to meet you on Saturday. I love the bag you are making, but have been concerned about doing another Amy Butler bag since I found the Sweet Harmony bag to be so complicated. I love the idea of doing it with a group! I agree that more pictures and tips/tricks are great.
