Bloggers Quilt Festival

Being apart of the blogging community is such a fun experience. Many opportunities come to share work and the process that comes into it. A quilting blog called Amy's Creative Side hosts this Bloggers Quilt Festival every year and I'm excited to participate this year! A good friend of mine, Petra, encouraged me to enter my Retro Modern Quilt. I'm so glad that she gave me the push I needed as I wouldn't have done it on my own.

I love retro mid-century shapes and once I found a print with many of these shapes I knew I had to recreate it into a quilt. I appliquéd all of the shapes. The process of applique is so much fun, I can see using it in lots of future quilts.

I made this quilt to submit into the Sisters Outdoor Show, and I'm so thrilled that it was excepted into the show! On the back of the quilt, I used the leftover strips of the prints from the front. I cut the strips wonky, I love how the cross came out.

The above two blocks are two of my favorites! I decided to quilt this with straight line quilting. It was the first time I quilted with this pattern and I love the simplicity. It allows you to really focus on the retro applique patterns.

You have a lot of patience for applique. They don't seam to be fused. or raw edge appliqued.. Beautiful quilt-I love the prints and colors.
