Much Needed Vacation

This weekend marks the one - year anniversary of our move to Portland. It's amazing to look back and reflect upon all of the changes that have occurred in our life: jobs, career changes, passions, friends, and more, I'm thankful for all of it! But to be honest, I'm feeling a little burnt out! Burning the candle at both ends consistently everyday really doesn't work. So I'm taking this "anniversary" of sorts to reflect.
Also, I'm currently taking a blogging class that is really make me look hard at my blog and why I blog. I love it and of course will continue, but the focus & frequency may screw a bit to what I'm most passionate about, and help with where I'm moving toward. I'm going to take the next two weeks to really reflect on that and plan what I want Joy of all Crafts to evolve into. I'll keep you posted!

But also today, my mom is currently on Amtrak trekking her way here to Portland to stay for one week. I couldn't be more excited! It's her first time here and I have so much planned: Multnomah falls, Powell's, Rose Gardens, Sellwood, tours of the shops I've worked/working, lots of crafting, Saturday Market, and more. She's been on the train since 10pm last night and won't arrive until 3:30 this afternoon, I hope that she is really enjoying the beautiful scenery! I'll be sure to share some photos of our adventures together. Feel free to follow me on instagram to see what crafting & craft shopping we'll do together. (I couldn't resist adding an old photo! I love this one of my mom holding me, dad collecting oranges from the orange tree, and my brother Stuart playing with a friend in the background looking back at us.)

Finally, I wanted to announce that I'm going to start teaching classes at Modern Domestic! I couldn't be more thrilled. Today, they interviewed me on their blog, be sure to pop over and check it out! And if you're visiting from Modern Domestic, welcome! I hope you have fun looking around my site. :)
Thanks so much for reading! I look forward to sharing with you where the next year will take me!

Wow, I'm so proud of you, and way to be strategic with your blog! I miss you!!
Enjoy your time with your Mom! Big congrats for teaching at Modern Domestic!
Congrats on teaching at Modern Domestic! I love the photo of you with your folks and brother. I was surprised to see you've only been in Portland a year. You seemed so at home at the PMQG meeting last week! I think Portland agrees with you!
Can't wait to see where you grow to next, I have been loving getting to know you through this blog and I know you have great things ahead :)
Congrats on modern domestic and the 1 year. We just celebrated our 1 year move as well and while it's been trying at times we love it and feel so at home. Would you mind sharing the blogging class, I've been considering starting a blog for awhile now and need to commit myself to moving forward with the idea.
