Vintage & 12 by 2012 update!

The Portland Flea was a huge success! Chris sold lots of items and I sold a few too! Lots of cards and a few vintage pieces. When Chris and I go to flea markets or estate sales together, we split up and conquer. He always looks for the big pieces, mostly furniture, where I look at the "smalls" all the little things! Sometimes it's to keep, other times it's to re-sell. However, my strategy is to only buy things that I like. This way, if it doesn't sell, I enjoy keeping it! :)

Well, in keeping with my goal list {12 by 2010}, I've decided to add a few vintage pieces to my etsy store. Why? Well, I have a few items that did not sell at the Portland Flea, that I'd like to sell, and second, I've been saving money so that I can attend Alt Design Summit in Salt Lake City. All proceeds from my etsy shop are going towards this!

Chris and I worked out a deal awhile ago, where if I raised half of the funds by this week, then I'd be able to pay my registration now, as long as I continued to raise money. It's amazing what a goal and motivation will do! I was able to meet my goal....so I'm officially going to Alt Summit! Hooray! Also, I was able to reserve a single occupancy hostel room that is two blocks away from the hotel, for literally half the cost of one night at the expensive hotel!

For those of you who have no idea what Alt is, or what I'm talking about, here is a summary. This is a new conference specifically for design bloggers. This title "design bloggers" really spans a huge range. These could be fashion, home decor, DIY, crafts, food, photography, stationery, and much more. My blog definitely falls into this category. If you want to grow your blog, business, and brand, this is the place! Most of the big bloggers, are going to be here, wither speaking or just attending. It really is a networking conference most of all. The first night there are organized dinners at about 20 restaurants. You choose the restaurant and there will be about 10 people at each restaurant, where we can get to know each other and chat! There are many opportunities like this, where they make it easy to network. There will be lots of seminars and craft opportunities! I've signed up to learn printing making from Sycamore Press. This is just a little blip of what it's about, if you're interested click here to check out their website!

I first heard about this conference last year, when I just started blogging. Lots of blogs were buzzing about this conference and that's where I first had the dream that I should go! At first, I thought that perhaps I wasn't "ready" enough to attend this conference, however, after talking with Carina from Crow and Canary, I knew that I should go! If I want to grow my blog and collaborate with others this is the perfect spot to be! To sum it up, I'm so excited that budgeting and saving have propelled me to go!
I still have more to save, so if you're feeling generous, visit my etsy shop! *wink, wink*

If you're going to Alt and you read my blog, I'd love to know!
Thanks all and have a happy Tuesday! I'm on my "weekend" and it's off to a great start!

Here's an update on my 12 by 2012 list!

One Hundred Posts

This is my 100th post! I'm so thankful for starting this blog back in January. It's taken me to so many places and taught me so much already! Here are some of the highlights:

  •  Learned how to take better pictures
  •  Pushed me to start my etsy shop
  •  Inspired everyday by the other bloggers "around me"
  •  Going to Bri's Mini Photoshop class for Bloggers last June
  •  Applying my photoshop "skills" everyday and growing in what I can do!
  •  Meeting other Portland bloggers and getting coffee with them! (Carina!)
  •  Keeping connected with family & friends close and far
  •  Finding my writing/creative voice (I've always heard this talked about and I couldn't understand it, and now I finally feel like I'm finding it!)
  •  Meeting people through blogs and becoming friends with them even though we've never physically met!
  •  and more!
Thank you so much for reading my little blog and sharing your life with me! I truly appreciate it! As I look back over this year already, I'm excited to see what happens with my blog and see where it takes me next! :) For now, here is my dream of where my blog could take me someday!

Portland Flea

Chris and I have been working nonstop preparing for this weekend's Portland Flea. We are really excited about it! We have many vintage pieces and many handmade-custom pieces. We'll have lots of furniture, lots of vintage glass bottles, brass, lighting, and literally lots more! We're not sure if we'll even be able to fit it all in our 10 x 20 foot space! We've rented a big u-Haul truck so that we can load it the night before and be all ready to start unpacking at 6am!

Please come see us!
8am - 3pm

Here's a little peek at the two quilts I finished today...more pictures soon!
The vintage sheet quilt will be for sale this weekend!

12 by 2012

One of the things that I love most about blogging and reading other blogs is the sense of community! I often find encouragement through other people and what they are inspiring to do and share! Well, Danni from Oh Hello Friend came up with this great idea for procrastinators (like me!) and people who want to go far! To make 12 goals or to-dos and get them done before 2012! So without further a do here is my list! I plan to post this on my bulletin board so that I can be inspired and cross off as I go. I'll occasionally post on my progress too! Thanks for keeping me accountable! :)

What do you want to accomplish before 2012?!

New to Etsy!

Over the past few days, I've been busying working on new items for my etsy shop and for this weekend's flea market. Chris has been hammering away in the garage and I've been sewing away in the office. We're a loud pair! :)

Here is a peek at my two new pillow covers, I put them on etsy but I'm also selling them at the flea. So come visit us on SE 6th & Belmont from 8am - 3pm.

Happy Wednesday!
