Good Friday

It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon,  for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.  Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.
-Luke 22:44-46

Today is full of meaning and hope for those who follow Jesus. It is a day to reflect on everything that Christ has done for us. To have died and taken on all of our sins is radical and yet this is what Jesus did for everyone!

To help dwell and remember what Jesus did I've collected some images to help remind myself of His sacrifice for me. God loves us enough to send his own Son to die for us! This is the message of today!

Alameda Flea Market

A few weeks ago I went to the amazing Alameda Flea Market. It was the first sunny day in a long time and the perfect day to explore! When you go...be prepared to be completely overwhelmed!! It is so huge and there is no way to see it all. I only had a few hours so I was only able to see maybe half of the market...and I was moving fast! Here are a few of my pics, and the things that I saw and loved...however, there is so much more! There is literally no way to capture it all!

Bumped into a friend! What are the odds?!

Happy Thursday!

Style Stitches

Yes, it is the middle of April and I am just now blogging about the Style Stitches challenge from March! Just a tad behind, but I don't mind! Each month this year JemJam is taking sewer's through Amy Butler's challenging book Style Stitches.

Amy Butler's Style Stitches: 12 Easy Ways to 26 Wonderful Bags
March was to make these origami bags:

IMG_0691

I loved the idea and set out to make all six! I learned a lot through this process and each bag took me a long time, but the second bag was much quicker! In the end, I decided I only need two, not six as each bag took two hours.

Here is my process:
Cut and interfaced all of the pieces

Attaching the zipper

Attaching the other side

After lots of struggles, both sides are attached!

Big opps! I tried to end the zipper but it opened the zipper! Does anyone have tips on this?

Trying to get the corners just right....

Tada!!! However, the birds head got chopped off by the gussets! aahh! oh well, next time I'll know!

Corners are difficult, I want to use a different method of attaching zippers next time

hello polka dot lining!

X-Small Bag 1 Complete!

Small Bag Pieces

Attaching zipper

Much faster and better second time around!

All done!

Next time I also want to make the tag longer..

March Challenge complete! I'm using the small bag to hold my camera and phone, and the larger bag is holding all of my sewing essentials. I think I will make more as gifts too!

This month is a Checkbook cover, and since I don't use one and I have a wallet I love, I'm skipping this month's project.

May has an amazing bag that I'm already planning out! More about this soon....

What's in the Bag?

Flea Market Edition!

Here are my finds from the flea market a few weeks ago:

I'm thrilled with it all!
*I've been looking for a vintage tablecloth for a long time and this one is perfect! Bright colors and the perfect size!
*The Owl Drug Co Jar is one of my favorites. It was an actually drug store in San Francisco, so there are a lot of these little guys floating around the Bay Area. I'd love to get my hands on some more!

I'm loving flea marketing, but I think I need to stop collecting until I get to Portland!

365 project: April 11 - 17

Happy Monday! It's an especially happy Monday for me as it's Spring Break! The major perk of being a teacher! I started the week off right....spending a sewing day with my mama! Both of us made lots of progress on quilted pillows. More pics to come soon!

Here is last week in photos! Sorry that they're wasn't as many posts as I would have liked! I have all of these personal goals with this little blog and my life and last week just got too busy! Anyway, this week is a new week and a fresh start!

Enjoying pinkberry yogurt after work! It was such a lovely day! I just love these chairs! I wonder if they are for sale...

Just browsing! Didn't buy anything (especially with the move) but enjoyed looking at all of the new brightly colored spring things!

Laying out my chevron striped quilt...but learned I made a mistake! Each block needs to be a perfect square and they were not! Simple to fix...but time-consuming! Measure twice...cut once! I guess I must learn this the hard way!

Waiting for my coffee at Peets...just a pic of my pretty wallet!

Happy Spring! I
I can't believe that I didn't know about this place! Douce France is a yummy little french cafe in the Town & Country village. This is during my lunch break from Paper Source ....a perfect break!

Quick run to the mega store early on a Sunday morning! I beat the lines and was able to exit with some great fabric for this week's furniture re-do! Pics to come *hopefully* soon!

Here's to getting many projects accomplished and having fun in the midst of it all!
Happy Easter Break!
