Flea Market Finds >> 15

This week brought one of those moments that I never thought would come! Chris and I went to a random estate sale that was advertised on craigslist (no photos) for Thursday morning. I had the morning off, so we went and checked it out together. We started looking around, and Chris looked through the kitchen, I was following behind, and what did I see that he missed? A Cathrineholm dutch oven! Nothing had prices, just bids on what you would pay, I could hardly contain my excitement, but I tried my best not to let on that I knew a lot about this item. I quickly offered $5, she said yes, and off I went! I'm really excited to begin collecting more Cathrineholm pieces! I never thought that I would find one as they are so so popular right now and really expensive! I found this same piece going anywhere from $70 - 150, but this one is not for sale! ;)

It's a perfect addition to my collection!

I also picked up this great set of kitchen tin canisters. Can't decide if I'm keeping them, or selling them yet. And of course, more pyrex and vintage sheets! Can't seem to go to a sale and not get one. ;)

What fun finds did you find this week?

Beggars Banquet Recap

Instead of a Flea Market Finds post today, I'd like to share about Beggars Banquet from this weekend. (I also had zero time to go out to any sales this past week.) Lots of people came out and we had a great time. It was wonderful to connect with many people that I've only chatted with online. It's always hilarious when you meet someone for the "first" time to only discover out that you've been communicating via twitter for a few months now and didn't realize it at first. ;) Can anyone else relate to this?!

Our booth included lots of handmade/reclaimed coffee tables, vintage items, taxidermy, and housewares.

Of course there were loads of really talented artists, designers, and curators.
The venue Union/Pine is amazing.  A perfect spot for this event and for a reception/party... it's complete with a disco ball!
Overall, it was a great success and I'll keep you posted for the next Beggars Banquet.
The next event that we'll be vending at is Portland Flea. We are so excited to be able to vend there again and to be a part of this year's first full season/ Mark April 21st on your calendar! But before we get there Chris and I need your help! PDX Picker and Joy of all Crafts are our blog names, however, neither really encapsulates who we are together. For the past few months we've been trying to brainstorm a name for our booth and perhaps future store. We really want to work on develop our brand this year and getting out the word about our handmade/found items. Here is a few of the names we are currently tossing around:
Reclaimed
Teak & Rosewood
Handmade Herringbone
Modernity
Which one do you like? Or do you have a suggestions? Leave a comment and let us know either way. I'd really appreciate the help!
Also, have you seen the tumblr Hipster Branding? It's pretty hilarious and spot on. The funny thing is, we like most of these logos and will want something like this for our own name. Does that mean we are hipsters? Hope not!
Here are my two favorite hipster re-designs:

200th Post!

I can't believe that I've made it to my 200th post! Looking back, it's amazing to see how much I've grown in blogging, and how many projects and activities I've accomplished and been able to share with you. It only ignites my passion to continue sharing and striving to inspire YOU to craft!
Here's a look back at some of my favorite projects and posts. Enjoy!
#10 - These Zipper Bags were the first that I had tried anything involving a zipper. It's not easy, but not impossible! Zippers really take practice and these little pouches are perfect for just that.
#9 - One of my first experiences of the Alameda Flea Market. I miss going here and the sunshine! But perhaps next time I'll be a vendor! ;)
#8 - Our First Booth at the Alberta Street Fair. Little did we know how much of a profession this would turn into for us! ;) This year, Chris and I will be combining our booth and assuming a fresh new name for our vintage sales. Come see us this Saturday at Beggars Banquet and all season at Portland Flea
#7 - This Rainbow Chevron Quilt started as a challenge to use just 5" square solids (a first for me!). Cutting them up and making zig zags was only natural.
#6 - I loved making this Vintage Sheet Quilt. It's basically one block turned into one quilt. I just sold this quilt on etsy and I've been stockpiling more sheets, it's time to make a new one! ;)
#5 - This was the first project I made from Martha Stewart Living for my new project "Living Martha Stewart Living." This Astronomical Tree Topper will be donning the top of our Christmas trees for many years to come!
#4 - Teaching Glass Etching at Portland Bazaar was such a great experience! Loved working with Kate from Portland Flea, and getting to share a fun craft with over 30 people.
#3 -  Going to ALT was one of the best decision I've made! I learned so much and met so many amazing people. Making this DIY Tote Bag to help brand myself was icing on the cake!
#2 - Interview with Emily Henderson// Secrets from a Stylist - Part One, Part Two, Part Three
#1 - My favorite project to date: the Tissue Paper Wall Heart. It casts an amazing spell over any room!
I hope you've enjoyed this round-up! Over the next 100 posts, you will see many more DIY projects, vintage finds, and inspiration to begin/continue crafting yourself.
Thanks so much for being a reader, I appreciate you so much!

Beggars Banquet

This Saturday, Chris and I will be vending at a brand new Portland vintage show called Beggar's Banquet. It got started in Vancouver BC and they've decided to branch out and start up a show here in Portland. It's a curated show, and I'm so proud of my hubs that he got asked to join in on the fun!

Here's a line up of the other vendors:

Hand-Eye Supply ~ Down Home Vintage ~ Summerland ~ Confectionery

Julia Barbee ~ Boet ~ Reif Haus ~ Portland Garment Factory

Red Flag Design ~ Fieldworks Floral ~  Vintage Wolfy ~ The Good Mod

Ilia Beauty ~ Maak Soap  ~ From the Reliquary ~  Vintage Baron

Angelus Novus

Thistle + Honey, M & J Vintage, Victory, Wulf Works, and Harper/Birch will also be there. I couldn't find an online presence for them, if you know they have a website/facebook/twitter, let me know and I'll update this post.

And of course, Chris, PDX Picker and myself will be there selling our items. We will be selling mainly our handmade items (typeset coffee tables, cup holder ottomans, vintage trunk tables) and some small, found, vintage pieces. Come join us this Saturday!

Flea Market Finds >> 14

This week, I only had the opportunity to go to one sale, but it was a great one! I'm still so excited about these finds, including my favorite one yet!
I'm still swooning over this beautiful fabric knitting needle case. I love the bright, bold colors and flowers  on this needle case. The big bonus was 30+ sets of needles, there is every size from US 19 - 0!  The big bonus it was only $12.50! I'm definitely not parting with this treasure. :)
There were also many pretty scarves and a couple pillowcases.  Fun patterns always catch my eye!
Once I saw this 1963 Simplicity Sewing Book, I had to have it! It's chock full of great sewing advice, and great vintage graphic design. I love the semi-circles on the cover, and they continue throughout the book.

This was by far the most favorite sale I've been to! Pop on over to my hubs blog to see what he found there too!
I'm linking up to Her Library Adventures  and Apron Thirft Girl.
Happy Thrifting!
